Over the duration of 12 weeks full time we take you from zero to hero so that you graduate cutting men’s hair at an advanced level.
This course teaches fundamental clipper cuts, short fades, beard grooming and basic styling. We then also teach advanced styles like foil fading, blowout and drop design fades, creative scissor cuts, cutthroat shaving and razor outlining, and advanced styling based on themes and motifs. This course sets the groundwork for those who want to immediately stand toe to toe with seasoned barbers and want to impress. You will be able to leave clients with strong signatures styles that keep them returning regularly and paying you £25 or more per service.
LSB qualifies over 800 barbers every year. Our results-driven training approach is PROVEN and entirely hands-on practical training. This means you won’t be spending all your time in books studying theory.
Our pro educators will be at your side at all times to supervise, build confidence, progress your skill level and deliver exceptional results. Classes are between 6 to 9 students, with students of all ages and both genders.
Stage 1 – We teach you the LSB fundamentals of cutting men’s hair with scissors and clippers. You will be introduced to all tools of the trade, how to properly hold each and to use them. You will then learn to section the hair on the head, and you will practice techniques on a mannequin head.
Stage 2 – You will practice these techniques hands-on, on real clients that are provided to you by the academy. With each service you have our pro trainer at your side giving direct feedback and support. We also use trainer demonstrations to give you the opportunity to watch the pro and ask questions throughout the service.
Stage 3 – You next progress to focusing on refining and finishing techniques. Here we teach you methods to put your signature to haircuts through drying, styling, and finishing techniques. You will be assessed on the overall quality of your haircuts that must be passed to an LSB standard. You participate in a class competition where you will present your best haircut against peers and be rated.
Stage 4 – We move onto more advanced level 3 skills. You will learn cutthroat wet shaving, advanced fading, advanced scissor cuts, and advanced styling. These weeks will push you both technically and creatively. We provide you clients to practice on and also use demonstrations to break down advanced cutting methods so that you master the techniques. At the end of this stage you will prepare a model based on a theme, and you will present him on stage in front of an audience to show your creative flair and technical expertise. You must provide your own model for your final presentation day. Should you fail to do this, you are at risk of not gaining the entire NVQ 3 qualification.
* Due to Covid, the number of clients that LSB is able to provide cannot be guaranteed and may fluctuate based on government restrictions on movement.
** Should Covid regulations restrict us from being able to perform some practical units of the qualification, LSB will allow students to return at a future date and perform them at no additional cost.
The course covers the following advanced aspects of barbering:
By the end of the course you will be confident after completing up to 150 real live haircuts. We provide students all clients which means that you spend your time focused on developing your skill.

Before applying why not perform a Soft Search Loan Eligibility check:
A soft–search is a type of credit search where a lender can get an idea of whether you’re eligible for borrowing by doing a soft search of your credit report. It doesn’t leave a mark like a ‘hard search‘ does.
The calculators use what’s known as ‘soft’ searches on your credit file – you’ll see the search if you check your file, but lenders won’t. To do this companies work with HD Decisions, a data company owned by Experian. For the ‘soft’ search they first have to find your details at the credit bureau (Experian).
To apply please select the “apply for finance of the full amount” option when booking your course on our website.
After you pay your finance deposit, the remaining monthly payments will start 30 days thereafter via direct debit. Your space on the course is reserved only after you make the initial deposit payment, after which you will receive our welcome email within 1 business day.

Each state has its own process to recognise hours earned overseas. We’ve had a strong track record of Americans training with us and receiving reciprocity for their hours. The process typically entails the learner completing a form for their state board after training with LSB, and LSB provides a letter of reference confirming their hours and modules covered. Is there lots of theory on the course?
We provide top standard learning resources with our step by step videos and visual diagrams. You can review these resources from the comfort of home or on your smartphone.
We also have about 5 hours of learning modules which we will review and discuss at the academy during your training.
The rest of the training at the Academy is 100% practical, during which you will absorb the theory in a hands-on manner. The best way to learn the theory is to apply it while doing a haircut and interacting with the client. Can I defer my course start date?
